A flexible Work OS with strong enterprise credentials, but requires careful vetting of performance and data handling limitations.

Week 2026-W14 · Published March 28, 2026
75 /100 Mostly Positive

This week, Monday.com's focus on launching its new AI agent marketplace, 'agentalent.ai', created a disconnect with a segment of its user base. While the launch generated buzz, community feedback on platforms like Reddit indicates a strong desire for improvements to core functionalities. Users reported significant pain points including API slowness, a restrictive 50-column limit on Excel imports, and inconsistent behavior in the native email integration. These issues highlight a potential friction point for enterprise adoption and large-scale data migration. Despite these concerns, the platform maintains a strong ecosystem of third-party developers and a supportive community actively creating workarounds. For enterprise buyers, this signals a need for thorough due diligence on performance at scale and the total cost of ownership, which may include third-party integration tools and marketplace apps.

you're not missing anything, this is a genuine limitation of the emails & activities feature. the workaround most people land on is ditching it entirely and routing emails through n8n or make instead. email comes in, automation reads the subject line or a tag, drops it into the right board item. way more reliable than monday's native email handling

Do you work at one of the competitors? 🤣 or have you invested any time to actually learn how the platform works? Your issues are rare. Ive only ever seen a slowdown in the ui when boards are overloaded and users on standard or pro accounts are trying to use it at the enterprise level or a terrible internet connection.

You should talk to your monday rep. We had a bad instance. It was slow, buggy and we had to migrate to a new instance. Monday did it all & credited us $30k for the trouble. (We are enterprise). It was a pain in the ass, but worth it.

I've been using monday for over 10 years and while there are occasional issues/problems/bugs, I've never had "slow" API or board deletion issues. This sounds like an isolated issue unfortunately.

Community Evidence This Week

Specific signals from GitHub, Hacker News, Reddit, Stack Overflow, and the web — what the community is actually saying

Due Diligence Alerts

Priority reviews, recommended inquiries, and verified strengths — based on 103+ community data points

Priority Review High Users report significant API slowness and UI performance degradation

A highly-discussed Reddit thread this week featured a user claiming the API is 'so slowwwww 90% of the time' and the UI is the 'worst experience'. While other users debated the cause, this report of poor performance at scale is a critical risk for any enterprise deployment.

Priority Review High Excel import is strictly limited to 50 columns, blocking large data migrations

Multiple users on Reddit confirmed a hard 50-column limit when importing data from Excel. This is a major technical constraint that can prevent or significantly complicate the migration of complex datasets from legacy systems, posing a direct risk to project timelines and budgets.

Recommended Inquiry Medium Question vendor on the reliability of the native Email & Activities integration

Users are reporting multiple issues with the native email integration, including sent emails not appearing in the activity log. This undermines the platform's value as a central communication record. Buyers, especially those considering the CRM use case, must ask for the feature's roadmap.

Recommended Inquiry Medium Investigate Total Cost of Ownership due to reliance on third-party tools

Community discussions frequently recommend using middleware like Make.com or paid marketplace apps to fill functionality gaps (e.g., integrating with ClickUp, generating PDFs). This indicates that the subscription price does not represent the full cost to achieve desired workflows.

Verified Strength Low Vendor maintains strong, verifiable compliance and security certifications

Third-party analysis and vendor documentation confirm that Monday.com holds key enterprise-ready certifications, including SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and offers a BAA for HIPAA compliance. This reduces risk for buyers in regulated industries.

Recommended Inquiry Medium Confirm data residency options and migration paths for GDPR compliance

While Monday.com offers EU data residency, it is typically restricted to Enterprise plans. Furthermore, migrating data from US to EU servers is a complex process. Buyers must confirm their plan's eligibility and understand the migration process upfront.

Compliance & AI Transparency

Based on publicly available vendor disclosures

Compliance information is based solely on publicly accessible vendor disclosures. "Undisclosed" means no public information was found — it does not confirm non-compliance. Always verify directly with the vendor.

Cumulative Intelligence

Patterns and signals detected over time — based on 50+ community data points from GitHub, X/Twitter, Reddit, Hacker News, Stack Overflow

Patterns Detected

  • A recurring pattern is Monday.com's reliance on its marketplace and third-party integration platforms (like Make.com) to address functionality gaps. While this fosters a strong ecosystem, it consistently transfers complexity and cost to the user, who must vet, purchase, and maintain these external dependencies.

Early Warnings

  • The negative community reaction to the 'agentalent.ai' launch, juxtaposed with pleas for core improvements, signals a potential brand identity crisis. If the company is perceived as prioritizing marketing-driven innovation over customer-centric stability, user trust could erode, leading to increased churn among its power-user base.

Opportunities

  • There is a significant opportunity to capture more enterprise value by productizing the most common workarounds. Building robust, native solutions for pain points like data migration, advanced reporting (pivots/formulas), and key financial integrations (e.g., Xero) would reduce user friction and create new revenue streams.

Long-term Trends

  • The trend of users building and selling apps to fix core platform deficiencies (e.g., better reporting, PDF generation) is accelerating. This indicates the platform's foundation is strong enough to build upon, but also that the company is potentially moving too slowly to address the needs of its most advanced users, creating a market for others to fill.

For Buyers & Evaluators

HIGH

The platform's true cost may be significantly higher than the license fee, due to a frequent need for paid marketplace apps and integration middleware (e.g., Make.com).

Ask vendor: Can you provide a reference customer with a similar use case and a breakdown of the marketplace apps and external tools they rely on?

Verify independently: Budget for an additional 15-30% of license costs for third-party tools during your evaluation.

HIGH

User reports of API slowness indicate a potential performance risk for large-scale or automation-heavy deployments.

Ask vendor: What are the specific API rate limits for our expected usage, and can you provide uptime and latency metrics for the API?

Verify independently: Conduct a Proof of Concept with scripts that simulate your peak expected API load.

MEDIUM

Data export capabilities are limited, which could complicate future migrations off the platform, creating a high degree of vendor lock-in.

Ask vendor: What are the available methods for a full, automated backup and export of all our data, including board structure, automations, and metadata?

Verify independently: Test the export functionality with your most complex board during the trial period.
