What SOC 2 means
SOC 2 is an independent audit, performed by a licensed CPA firm, of how a service provider manages customer data across the Trust Services Criteria (security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy). A Type II report covers a review period rather than a single point in time. Because it is issued by a third-party auditor, a current SOC 2 report is the strongest routinely available evidence of a vendor's security controls.
